In the year of 2008, almost two-million visits are recorded on most emergency rooms. These rooms are mainly linked to abuse and drug misuse. In fact, almost one million people are using illegal drugs. Just imagine that most of these rooms attend to the needs of drug abusers.

As per the pharmaceutical drug users, they are attended by almost nine-hundred seventy-one thousand and nine-hundred fourteen emergency rooms. Cocaine users are accommodated to almost four-hundred twenty-eight thousand one-hundred eighty-eight emergency rooms. Stimulant users are also accommodated by ninety-one thousand nine-hundred thirty-nine emergency rooms. Heroin users are serviced by two-hundred thousand six-hundred sixty-six emergency rooms. As with marijuana users, there are three-hundred seventy-four thousand and four-hundred thirty-five emergency rooms that freely accommodate them.

In the question of what organs are really affected, almost all illegal drugs have their devastating and far-reaching effects inside the organs of the body.

Even the lungs, brain, jaw, heart, liver, stomach, kidneys, pancreas, intestines and reproductive organs are mainly affected by the use of cocaine, heroin, tranquilizers, meth, hallucinogens, PCP, marijuana and steroids.

Truly, addiction and drug abuse mainly affect all of the body systems. Usually, drugs often affect the moods, feelings, memory, learning and decision-making of the people. Apart from it, they may also worsen or cause health problems like lung disease, heart disease, cancer, infectious disease and mental disorders.

Cocaine, heroin, tranquilizers, meth, hallucinogens, PCP, marijuana, steroids usually have their varied effects on both the circulatory system, nervous system and reproductive system. For instance, they may cause damage, stroke and blindness. The brain chemistry may also be affected and bacterial infections may be brought in the heart and blood vessels.

As per the reproductive system, there may be a decrease in sex drive that causes infertility. In the nervous system, schizophrenia, senility, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease may be the results of using these abusive drugs.

More so, there are still many other problems that will result from the use of drugs. People must be completely aware of the negative effects brought by the use of these illegal drugs!
